Beach Roaming

What a fabulous day! We started by cycling along a coastal path, dodging the golf balls as we crossed the golf course, and along into Nairn. This is a very pretty little town with some lovely properties along the coast, nice looking cafes and a cute little harbour. We then made our way through the sand dunes and into Culbin Forest. The first bit of single track in the forest was fantastic as it rolled up and down like a roller coaster along a ridge line. Great fun.

Spent several hours cycling a mixture of single track and dunes in the forest. Couldn’t believe the size of the mosquitoes which typically turned up just as we were “lost” i.e. when the perfectly good track suddenly ran out – why does that happen? They managed to have a good munch into me through my long sleeve tshirt!

We had planned on an ice cream stop on the beach on the way back but the queues at all the cafes we passed were very long so we played around on the beach and then headed back.

BBQing steaks later. Just hiding from a little shower right now but Illya is most excited as it was just the excuse he needed to use his new awning. Used for shade on the continent but for shelter in Scotland 🤣.

Shade or shelter?
