“Stay the night” Kirroughtree

This weekend we took advantage of the Forestry Commission Scotland “stay the night” scheme which is in the second year of trial in certain forests. Kirroughtree (in Dumfries and Galloway) has some of the best man made mountain biking trails as over 75% of the 31k red/black trail is lovely flowing single track.

We travelled on Friday after work and arrived to a warm evening so were able to sit out and enjoy the quiet forest views. A gentle breeze luckily kept the worst of the midges away! There were a few other motorhomes however the carpark is large enough that there was plenty of space to spread out and have your own space.

The bonus of staying on site is that you wake up at the start of the trails and can head off in the early morning with the trails to yourself. We were not disappointed 🙂
