A Braemar blast

A few bits of very sad news yesterday put things back in perspective and we set off today to enjoy life. We started by exploring some of the tracks at the bottom of Morven Hill winding through the heather with stunning views of the Mar estate across the river Dee.

We then cut over the Victoria Bridge, past Mar lodge and West to Derry Lodge. This area is just beautiful.

illya loves the little bit of single track down to Bob Scott’s Bothy. I was doing quite well following him until I pulled on the brakes and my handlebars rotated ! Thank goodness they rotated upwards rather than forwards or that would have been a stylish crash!

After minor repairs we were on our way again heading up the single track on the East side of Derry Lodge up Glen Derry. We had only been up this trail once and the last time it was deep in snow so the trail was a bit different today in the warm sunshine. Although the bridge was still out, the river was low enough that we could cycle across. The return on the Westerly single track was just as much fun with more natural sections under the trees and hopping the roots.

After another long day out on the bikes we were starving so lamb curry for dinner tonight. yum.
