We have come North to The Moray coast for an autumn trip to the beach. It is a long way from home but it is worth it as the beaches up here run for miles and miles often with views of Orca’s and seals.

We are staying at West Beach campsite at Hopeman for the first time. It is quite a large site and we were not lucky enough to get a seaview pitch bit at least it is quieter than it must be in the summer.
The Moray Coast trail runs through the site and today we headed West towards Burghead and Findhorn. The views were great and although we didn’t see any Orcas there is a lot of history along this coast. Most of this trail is an old railway line and there are a lot of old military defences as well as an old pictish fort.

The trail was quite varied from cycling along the sand to rolling in the dunes. Great fun!

Looking forward now to an evening drink on the beach at the Bootleggers Bothy.
