Cliffs, Birds and Views

A slightly different adventure for us this weekend as I am recovering from knee surgery and can’t walk too far or get on the bike. Having scanned the map for somewhere where we could stay in the van and do a number of short circular walks, we’ve ended up in St Abbs. And what an amazing find!

St Abbs is a small coastal village with a lot of history. There is a cute little harbour which is still used for fishing and offers scenic trips along the coastline.

This area also has the most amazing geology. It is a stretch of volcanic coastline and so features big cliffs, reddened rock, gullies and pinnacles. The coastal path which runs west of the village gives a great view of it all.

Thank you to the informative rangers at the National Trust Scotland for telling me the names of the birds I’d spotted – Razorbills, Kittiwakes, Fulmars and Shags. I’d figured out the seagulls🤣.

Enjoying a cuppa in the van now and resting my knee ready for another ramble later on. ❤️
