West coast weekend

This weekend we are on a remote part of the West coast. There is no quick way to get here, you either take the route across to Oban and down or across to Lochgilphead and up. Roughly 100 miles from home but travel is at a slow pace and either route eventually winds along miles of scenic coast line with views out to a multitude of small islands.

The village of Ardfern is small but has everything you might need. The local village shop is well stocked with loads of delicious food. There is also a 17th century drovers inn which has views out onto the water. We are staying in a Motorhome park which has facilities that are basic but really nicely done. How cute is this shower and washing up hut?

Today we walked up and over to the other side of the peninsula. The landscape reminded us of the East coast of Barbados as it was rugged and undulating and remarkably tropical looking plants.

We were lucky to find cinnamon buns (my favourite treat!) at Lucy’s coffee shop at Craobh harbour. Delicious.

Hoping for another lovely evening. Last night we toasted sausages over the fire pit. Until the midges came out that is …. The West coast is renowned for the little beasties at this time of year!
