After a fun cycle at the Moray Monster trails we headed south via Elgin down the Glen of Rothes towards Craigellachie. This route is known as the Whisky Trail, which makes sense as I counted 13 distilleries in 15km!

As I wasn’t driving I was on tasting duty 😁. My Caribbean roots are biased towards a rum but I do love a whisky too. So it probably wasn’t a surprise that my tasting led me to a whisky and rum fusion. The favourites were a Speyburn whisky matured in a rum cask and a Panama golden rum matured in a peaty whisky cask. Both quite different in taste but great choices.

We are staying at the Speyside Gardens campsite which is within another walled garden which we think was originally part of Aberlour house. It is a beautiful little site run by the friendliest people.
Today’s cycle was along the Speyside Way which is a disused railway which was used primarily to support the whisky industry from the mid 1800s. Saw several of the old platforms along the route.

And spotted even more distilleries! No tasting this time though….
