The start of the next chapter of life. I have (finally! Sharon shouts) retired after 33 years of full-time work. This next chapter aims to reverse the time spent at work to fun ratio.
We are breaking ourselves in gently by spending much of the next 7 weeks in the Cairngorms national park and surrounding areas. This is an area we know and love and so spending more time here seemed the right place to start. We plan to revisit every one of our favourite bike rides as well as discovering a few walks (yes Illya has decided he likes walking!?!).
We set off this morning, 3 of us now, as we are joined by newly acquired Gordon. My sister suggested a dog would be good company but Gordon will be a lot easier to look after.
Our first stop was the Uath Lochan so we could check out the trails at Badan Dubh. Some of the trails have been destroyed by deforesting by there was still a lot to enjoy. And great views of the snowy hills in the background.
Things didn’t stay clean for long but at least Illya could use his gadgets to tidy up a bit post the ride.
No hope for the van getting clean in the short term though 😬.
