The slow road

Woke up today to snow on the hills and sleet falling from the sky so we decided to hibernate this morning.

Luckily we stayed last night at Glencoe Mountain so we had electrical hook up and had topped up water and emptied the waste. I was able to sit in the cafe, looking at the view, and clear my emails whilst Illya worked on his mountain bike videos. I can think of worse places to work from 🙂

The weather did clear by lunch time and we headed to some bike trails we had heard of at Glencoe village. Don’t know who did the colour coding on those trails but they were very black (aka difficult!). As there were forestry works ongoing we had to cut the ride shorter than planned but not before grabbing some great photos of the views.

As it was late afternoon by then, we decided to take the longer slow route from Glencoe southwards to Connel and then East along Lochawe. We have had a realization that slowing down and enjoying the moment is actually quite enjoyable. We wonder … is this what retirement might be like?

We have stopped for one more night under a very clear and stary sky, and will head home tomorrow, finishing our first trip. Tomorrow I will add a map summarising the route we have been on.

PS Illya broke the door handle tonight :). Think we will need to get that repaired but at least we now know how to get is working relatively quickly.

Enjoying your stories and adventures. Am actually thinking of doing something similar in the USA. So what vehicle are you travelling around in?

It is a Carado which is part of the Hymer Group. Not sure you’ll get these in the USA as they are German but I am sure there will be lots of other options.
