One of the reasons we got the van was to make more of the weekends in the autumn and spring. At this time of year it is getting dark at just after 4pm and it is not light until 8am in the morning. Now we have the van we were able to drive up north like to places such as Aviemore right after work on Friday night and were cycling by 9:30 this morning.
One thing we didn’t expect was the new signs in all the forestry commission and loch side car parks that now forbid overnight parking along the road via Loch Morlich to Cairngorm Mountain. We clearly weren’t the only people surprised as there were a few camping vans driving around. Once parked however we enjoyed a few beers and a lamb curry (made from scratch in the van!).
We woke to the sound of rain but it quickly cleared and we had great fun cycling some of our favourite trails in the Rothiemurchus estate. Click the link below to see a video of the trail.
We did some exploring and found some new paths on the South side of Loch Morlich. It was almost a wintery atmosphere with some snow on higher ground and low light conditions – beautiful.
Did a bit of shopping in town this evening and were excited to find some shoe dryers that run off a USB socket to dry our cold wet shoes …… the only problem is that somehow the USB sockets have stopped working. Will deal with that problem tomorrow!
Cosy and warm in the van now after a walk to the Bridge Inn for a drink.

All the wiring diagrams and fuse board labels are in German! And either google translate is having a moment or the fuse board is not correctly labelled. Not a 5 min job afterall …
