Weekend “get away”

It was another cold and wintery morning today although we had a toasty night’s sleep in the van. We wrapped up warm and headed to the bike trails at Upper Burnside. These trails built by locals are great fun but quite technical. Today was made even more challenging as the forestry commission had caused a huge mess on the lower trails with their tree felling. Had to duck when riding through the access tunnel!

We were a bit quicker at cleaning up when we got home today. Still not sure how we managed to make more mess in a 2 day weekend than we did in the last 6 day trip! The muddy trails might be fun to ride but not so much fun to clean up after. The bike garage is working well and keeping all the dirty stuff in one place. Everything dries pretty well too.

The roads are dirty and salty at this time of year – an extra large and extendable brush purchase meant that Illya could clean the van a bit quicker and without a ladder this time.

A successful first weekend “get away”. Looking forward to the next one already :).
