Impromptu Trip

When we bought the van we had hoped it would give us options for a quick get away on a Friday night and much more flexibility. I think it did that for the first few months but we must be out of practice or have forgotten after long periods of no travel due to COVID restrictions.

But on Thursday night, inspired by the recent hot and sunny weather, we did a quick internet search for campsites near a beach and a plan was hatched. Before work on Friday we spent an hour getting the bikes, some food and clothes together and late afternoon we got that quick get away and headed north.

This is our first time camping at Nairn although we have cycled on the beach in and around Culbin Forest and it is beautiful. The campsite here is in a pretty woodland about 2k from the coast. The other thing we have forgotten about is the midges! The season has clearly started and we got to use the midge protection enhancements we made to the van the first summer we had it. It worked well.

Off for a ride shortly. Check back tonight for the photos. Last time we were in this area we saw Orcas swimming past so wish us luck!
