One night beach stop this time; which I will admit was booked entirely because of the campsite facilities and the location rather than the usual access to bike rides (to Illya’s dismay).
Ice-cream and coffee shop opposite the pitch – of course we had to try some!

Short but very interesting bike ride around the Hodbarrow nature reserve. This seems to be a disused quarry which is now a lagoon teeming with wildlife and surrounded by random ruined buildings.

And miles and miles of sandy beach and dunes.

The locals have built “art work” out of rubbish collected on the beach over the years. Illya added a few pieces to the display.

Not much else in this town however. The planned fish and chip supper didn’t happen as the only chip shop in town shut at 7! We managed to rustle up jambalaya from our “emergency” food supplies between us – yummy. Imagine the excitement when Sharon and I found the “ski bar” open for a drink when we went for a walk after dinner.
