False Start

We are over on the West coast of Scotland ready for our trip to the Outer Hebrides. The plan was to take the ferry from Oban to Barra and then over the next 10 days tour through Barra, Uist, Harris and Lewis, finishing with the ferry back from Stornaway to Ullapool.

To make sure we were here in plenty of time we came a day early and stayed in a pretty campsite situated within the walls of an old Victorian garden.

We had planned to try the local bike trails nearby but the rainy weather and the need to repair a dodgy battery in the van prevented that happening yesterday.

And today, due to stormy weather and very high winds, all the ferries to the islands were cancelled and rebooking was a challenge. Although disappointed I am kind of glad not to spend 4.5 hours on a rocky ferry as I’d have been seasick for sure.

So after the inital holiday false start we are trying again. The beauty of having a camper van is you can very easily change plans.

We are currently driving into the sun. Heading for the warmest and driest part of Scotland for a few days to start with and then we will see where our hearts take us next.
