Touring and (more) trails

We decided to stay another night on the Moray Coast so that we could catch up with friends for an evening ride.

I went for a wander around Hopeman first thing whilst Illya was working on a video project.

I can’t believe I managed to find a savoury chilli and cheese scone in a local cafe. He had asked for one for breakfast but never thought I’d be able to meet his ask!

As we were saving our bike legs for the evening jaunt, we decided on an easy tour around the local sights. Duffus Castle was a pretty impressive ruin. The original castle was made of wood but was rebuilt in stone in the 1300s. Unfortunately it was built on the original foundation which couldn’t take the weight and one corner has slid down the hill.

The pilots were out doing training. What a noise they make.

And in the evening we met friends from the North East Fatbike club who we’ve enjoyed getting to know over the last year. Great company, fun mountain bike trails and a lovely evening sunset to complete the day.

And we saw Orcas! Lots of them. Impossible to capture a photo but I promise you they were swimming right there.
