Findhorn was a very relaxing stop. A real sun trap in the dunes next to the beach. And we loved looking for dolphins whilst drinking coffee on the beach in the morning.
Yesterday’s bike ride was in the woods near Burghead. We discovered these trails when riding with the local FatBike club and love coming back. You’d never know these paths were here if someone didn’t show you. Each time we ride here we end up on a different route!
In the afternoon we drove North to check out an area just above the Black Isle and just east of Tain. The lighthouse at Tarbat Ness was worth a visit and was beautiful, covered in purple heather. Dolphin View point at Portmahomack didn’t live up to its name though and no sea life was spotted. Cute seaside town though.
We stayed the night Balintore which is one of the 3 seaboard towns on this coast famous for salmon fishing until the fishing rules changed and put them out of business. You can still see the huge salmon net poles from the van pitch – the birds like sitting on them. Stunning sunrise this morning.
